Chequerboard Socks by Lucy Neatby | Digital Pattern
Warm toe-up socks begun with a garter stitch short-row toe, and featuring the matching garter stitch heel. Bonus: no grafting (Kitchener stitch) to worry about.
The two-colours-per round fabric is turned into a checked one by a sneaky periodic shift in the pattern: no yarn changes are required!
This pattern features detailed written instructions and diagrams.
This pattern is also available in my book Cool Socks Warm Feet.
Shown in Opal 4-ply sock yarn.
To make your own kit, use 50g main colour and 50g contrast of any wool-rich sock-weight yarn, such as Celestial Merino or Cat's Pajamas.
